On local regularization methods for linear Volterra equations and nonlinear equations of Hammerstein type

چکیده
Abstract Local regularization methods allow for the application of sequential solution techniques for the solution of Volterra problems, retaining the causal structure of the original Volterra problem and leading to fast solution techniques. Stability and convergence of these methods was shown to hold on a large class of linear Volterra problems, i.e., the class of ν-smoothing problems for ν = 1, 2, . . . in Lamm (2005 Inverse Problems 21 785–803). In this paper, we enlarge the family of convergent local regularization methods to include sequential versions of classical regularization methods such as sequential Tikhonov regularization. In fact, sequential Tikhonov regularization was considered earlier by Lamm and Eldén (1997 SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 34 1432–50) but there the theory was limited to the class of discretized one-smoothing Volterra problems. An interesting feature of sequential classical regularization methods is that they involve two regularization parameters: the usual local regularization parameter r controls the size of the local problem while a second parameter α controls the amount of regularization to be applied in each subproblem. This approach suggests a wavelet type of regularization method with the parameter r controlling spatial resolution and α controlling frequency resolution. In this paper, we also show how the ‘future polynomial regularization’ method of Cinzori (2004 Inverse Problems 2

ALGEBRAIC NONLINEARITY IN VOLTERRA-HAMMERSTEIN EQUATIONS
Here a posteriori error estimate for the numerical solution of nonlinear Voltena- Hammerstein equations is given. We present an error upper bound for nonlinear Voltena-Hammastein integral equations, in which the form of nonlinearity is algebraic and develop a posteriori error estimate for the recently proposed method of Brunner for these problems (the implicitly linear collocation method)...
متن کاملSolution of nonlinear Volterra-Hammerstein integral equations using alternative Legendre collocation method
Alternative Legendre polynomials (ALPs) are used to approximate the solution of a class of nonlinear Volterra-Hammerstein integral equations. For this purpose, the operational matrices of integration and the product for ALPs are derived. Then, using the collocation method, the considered problem is reduced into a set of nonlinear algebraic equations. The error analysis of the method is given an...

In this work, a new iterative method is proposed for obtaining the approximate solution of a class of Hammerstein type Integral Equations System. The main structure of this method is based on the Richardson iterative method for solving an algebraic linear system of equations. Some conditions for existence and unique solution of this type equations are imposed. Convergence analysis and error bou...

Making use of the Volterra approach, black box modeling is applied to a large scale analog circuitry for an ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) central office application. Reducing the number of free parameters through special assumptions on the Volterra kernels, one ends up with the Hammerstein model. Taking the first few taps of the Volterra kernels and approximating the last taps throu...
